These works were made during the quarantine months beginning in the spring of 2020 from Black Mountain Clay… a clay body I had never before used and had recently purchased prior to everything shutting down.
During that time, I decided to try to make pieces that emulated the styles of particular clay heroines of mine…namely Dorothee Loriquet (Reaching & Interplay), Deirdre McLoughlin (Joined & Bird) and Alice Ballard (Handiworks). I made these works both as an homage to these women artists and also as a means of further exploring their building methods.
