This too is part of my “Homebound Series” made during the 2020 coronavirus quarantine. The #100DayProject is an annual, free, worldwide art project whereby participants show-up every day for 100 days to explore some aspect of creativity and often post their daily pieces on Instagram. It is a wonderful way to be accountable and start a new practice. In 2020 the #100DayProject began on April 7, soon after our lockdown began in Indiana. For it, I decided to make a collage around a word (or words) from my morning journaling. While I have always journaled, before this I hadn’t done much collage. I found it challenging, time consuming and rewarding. Having this to do during a pandemic was most interesting. In many ways the project became a study of my emotions around confinement during COVID, the police killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and others and the subsequent protests, and the ups and downs of daily life. It will remain a visual journal of this period for me.
